The Cascade trainees

A PROJECT to give young people paid experience in top media companies was launched at Middlesex University last week.

The Cascade programme, launched at Channel 4 last Tuesday, has been designed to help ten people with little TV experience to break into the industry.

The programme, also to boost the numbers of people from ethnic minorities in the media, has been devised with the help of Top TV Academy, which provides training masterclasses, networking facilities and support to industry professionals.

The programme involves six-month placements at independent TV production companies such as Endemol as well as workshops with media mentors.

The programme is being funded by the Skillset Freelance Fund, a fund for TV freelancers.
